Midnight Mama

Most women, and especially mothers, find they have little time during the day to actually process the amount of decisions they had to make, and weigh their potential impact. If you are like me, midnight seems to be an appropriate time to lay awake and begin the process of analyzing how ONE of the decisions you made today will ultimately derail your entire life, or, someone you are responsible for...If this is you, then meet me at midnight might be the place for you to find some sisterhood, validation, and a whole lot of humor.

Finding your frequency

Wednesday Aug 16, 2023

Wednesday Aug 16, 2023

I'm back with some deep value for you today.  Join me as I talk to you about finding your frequency as it relates to how you are functioning and showing up in this world.  Developing a deeper sense of self-awareness, and insight, will allow you to operate at a high frequency where you will see and experience things in a much different light.  The only thing you need to do...is change.  I know how difficult that can be, especially with all of the seasons of motherhood in full effect.  I also know what it feels like to avoid change and be stuck in a physical and mental space I don't like.  The choice is yours.

Release the Guilt

Monday Jul 31, 2023

Monday Jul 31, 2023

Have you ever heard of "mom guilt?" It's an amazing phenomenon that we experience countless times in motherhood, and when you stop and really think about it, you are the ONLY one bothered by it.  Sometimes the best thing we can do is acknowledge it's presence and then take a few steps to release it.  When we carry this around we cannot be fully present, therefore contributing to the guilt.  Tune in and listen to how I recognized this was interfering in my life, and what I chose to do about it.

As noted in the show, this is general advice that could be applicable to many people.  If you are looking for more specific guidance, I invite you to fill out the linked questionnaire to get more information about how this can be geared specifically toward your situation.  Feel free to leave a comment too.

The Mother’s Birth

Monday Jul 24, 2023

Monday Jul 24, 2023

One area that we need to focus on more in the maternal mental health space is the simultaneous birth of the mother during childbirth.  We focus our intentions on bringing the baby into the world in the least traumatic way, but somehow thrust our mothers into chaos and havoc in the process.  In this episode, I break down the process of birthing the mother and share what I am doing to assist in this process.

Mothering Yourself

Monday Jul 17, 2023

Monday Jul 17, 2023

In this episode, I talk about where I was and what I was doing last week instead of recording an episode for YOU.  This episode is near and dear to my heart because it is all about learning to mother yourself, regulate your emotions, and feed those raw emotions with what they are craving.  So many times we are caught in the middle of a storm, or tidal wave, and just keep going under, and no one coming to help us.  It can be so difficult to take care of everyone else, ask for your own help, and then tell people what that looks like for you.  Learning to mother yourself may sound like a foreign concept, but it is a necessity in this journey of motherhood and a skill that will benefit you and your family for years to come.

Are you Overpacking?

Monday Jul 03, 2023

Monday Jul 03, 2023

Sometimes we overpack when we go on vacation, an overnight trip, or somewhere else, and that is ok, if we realize WHY we are doing it.  I like to be prepared, but sometimes that preparation can be debilitating to my growth and ability to fit into spaces I want to go.  Take a listen as I process what this looks like, why we do it, and the theoretical component associated with carrying extra things in "your bag."

Making Eggs

Tuesday Jun 27, 2023

Tuesday Jun 27, 2023

We continue to overcomplicate aspects of motherhood because they are hard, when in reality its a series of steps we follow every single day that sometimes yield a different outcome.  Everytime you make eggs do you get the same finished product?  Probably not.  You might add seasoning, burn your eggs, or scramble them up.  When we shift our perspective and look at the monotony of motherhood it can feel less overwhelming and allow us to work through the transitional phases of the day with more energy and smoothly.  Take a listen as I draw these comparisons and offer suggestions for this.

I woke Up Differently

Monday Jun 19, 2023

Monday Jun 19, 2023

It's so easy for us to get caught up in the little storms that present themselves in our lives from time to time.  As moms, we find ourselves pulled into the storms of our spouses, children, friends, and more, and it can create instability within us that leads to self-sabotage and negative experiences.  I talk about my recent storms and how necessary it is to evaluate the residual damage from them in order to "decide" how to rebuild and sustain the changes.  Choosing to wake up differently has been serving its purpose in my life, and I want to share that with you in case you are caught in the eye of the storm.

As always, I love to hear from my listeners and work more closely with you.  You can find me on ig @ nicole_kumi and at www.thewholemom.com

Reflection and Reinvention

Tuesday Jun 06, 2023

Tuesday Jun 06, 2023

There is so much power in the ability to reflect on your past and use it as motivation for continuous improvement in your life.  We are all afforded opportunities to recreate, or reinvent ourselves yet so little of the population recognizes those moments, and even less know what skills are necessary to begin this transformation.  Sometimes, it is someone else's journey that prompts us to make these changes in an effort to assist them in their next season of life, and that is what I talk about in this episode.  Join me and listen in to how the battle my daughter was fighting prompted me to recreate myself in order to walk with her through a challenging season.

Healing from Resentment

Thursday Jun 01, 2023

Thursday Jun 01, 2023

Losing my ME Time

Monday May 22, 2023

Monday May 22, 2023

Coming down off the highs of our girl's trip, mother's day celebrations and busy life smacked me right in the mouth this weekend.  I pride myself on structure and routine in order to survive motherhood and this week I was reminded of what it feels like to neglect spending time with myself.  I typically practice what I preach because if I didn't, then how would anyone think it was wise to listen to me?  It's a humbling experience when the advice you give others is not something you follow, and then everything around you suffers.  Yes, I fell off my wagon of self-care, and my non-negotiable time became "negotiable" and everyone suffered at the hands of this.  Tune in to hear me share about this experience, how I climbed back on the wagon quickly, and why it is CRUCIAL to have this time for yourself every, single, day.
